Vassilis Gavrilis was born and raised in Athens. He was appointed to the Athens Court of First Instance in 2004 and is admitted before the Supreme Court of Greece. He has extensive experience on the whole spectrum of public law issues, and is an expert on public contracts, regulatory issues, deregulation and opening up of markets to competition, licensing of enterprises with an emphasis on the energy sector and on telecommunications, tax and customs law, on competition, civil service and education law. He has thorough knowledge of urban planning and forestry law and has a diversified litigation practice before the administrative courts of all degrees. Vassilis also has advised extensively on business restructuring and bankruptcy, on a wide range of issues arising in the pharmaceuticals market and personal data protection.

Vassilis participated in the group of consultants for the Ministry of Development regarding the evaluation of the Greek regulatory environment and the simplification of the business licensing procedures by World Bank during 2013 and in the group of consultants of OECD regarding the simplification of the business licensing procedure. Since 2011 he is providing ongoing legal support to the Athens University of Economics and Business on the full range of issues arising in the course of the organisation and operation of an institution of higher education, and its staff.
